How these workbooks were made
These workbooks were made with the help of AI. An AI assistant (Claude, by Anthropic) wrote the software that lays out the pages, lines up the sources and runs the checks below, under human direction and review.
The Qur'an text is not typed or edited by AI. It is copied word for word from the Quranic Universal Library (QUL) by Tarteel, and drawn with the IndoPak font by Ayman Siddiqui and R. Siddiqua (QuranWBW). Juz divisions follow the 15-line Pakistani print.
The transliteration is QUL's English word-by-word transliteration. Where QUL's data skips or repeats a word (2:181, 8:6, 36:52), the word comes from the same transliteration on Quran.com. Where the Indo-Pak text writes baʿda mā as two words (2:181, 8:6, 13:37), baʿdamā is split to match.
How they were checked
- Every word on every page was compared, in order, with the source text: nothing missing, repeated or out of order.
- Every ayah was compared with a second copy of the text from Quran.com. The few differences are spelling differences between the two digital editions; QUL's spelling is kept.
- Every letter was checked to exist in the font, and every word to fit inside its box.
- Every form field was filled in, saved and reopened to confirm it works.
- Sample pages were checked by eye.
They can still contain mistakes
Checks find the kinds of mistakes they are built to find, so a misplaced mark, a wrong word break or a layout slip can still get through. Please read along with a printed mushaf and, where you can, a teacher. If you find a mistake, please report it and we will fix the file.
Questions
Which transliteration is used?
The English word-by-word transliteration from the Quranic Universal Library (QUL) by Tarteel. It spells each word as it sounds in recitation, so a word joined to the one before it can start with l- or al-, as in bis'mi l-lahi.
How is it different from the Arabic-only workbook?
Same Arabic text, juz divisions, boxes and form fields, with a line of transliteration under each word. The rows are taller, so each juz runs to about 20% more pages.
Should I rely on the transliteration?
Use it as a bridge while you learn to read. English letters cannot show every Arabic sound exactly, so read along with a teacher or a recitation, and move to the Arabic-only workbook when you are ready.
Which script and juz divisions do these use?
The Indo-Pak (South Asian) script, with each juz split as in the 15-line Pakistani print. Juz 4 starts at 3:92, as in South Asian mushafs.
Are the meanings filled in?
No. The boxes are blank on purpose. The exercise is to work out each meaning yourself, with a teacher or a word-by-word translation beside you.
Can I type into the PDF instead of printing it?
Yes. Every box and line is a form field. Open the file in a PDF app that fills forms, such as Acrobat Reader, Preview or Xodo, and type straight in; what you type saves with the file.
What paper size are the pages?
US Letter. On A4 paper, choose "Fit to page" (or "Scale to fit") in the print dialog.
Is it free?
Yes. Download and print it for your own study, a class or a masjid circle.
Where does the Arabic text come from?
The text and the IndoPak font come from the Quranic Universal Library (QUL) by Tarteel. The font is by Ayman Siddiqui and R. Siddiqua of QuranWBW. Every ayah was checked against the text on Quran.com.
